Quiz Results
Based on your answer to the quiz, your child may be experiencing higher levels of depression than other children their age.
What Does This Mean?
Many kids as young as 3 years old can experience clinical levels of depression, which is different from the normal “blues” and everyday emotions that occur as a child develops. This self-test was designed to determine whether your child demonstrates symptoms similar to those of pediatric depression. An accurate diagnosis can only be made through clinical evaluation with a professional.
The silver lining for childhood depression is that it is VERY treatable – especially when addressed during adolescence when the child is very young. Individual therapy with a therapist who specializes in pediatric mental health disorders is so beneficial for kids between the ages of 3-12. It allows the child to:
- Process any difficult or traumatic events that may be contributing to the child’s intense emotions, allowing them to move past these events in a healthy way
- Learn coping skills to manage their depression and allow them to want to participate in life again
- Repair or improve the family and/or peer relationships in their life so that they create a positive support system that serves to help the child overcome their depression
- Live up to their full potential and stop low moods from holding them back from the wonderful future that they deserve.
Considering a mental health evaluation for your child can be scary, but it doesn’t have to be. The child therapists at Modern Parenting Solutions have many years of experience helping kids overcome their emotional and behavioral challenges, and they can help your child too.
