Quiz Results
Based on your answer to the quiz, your child’s behavior appears age-appropriate at this time.
How did we come to that conclusion?
This self-test was loosely adapted from The BASC-3 Behavioral and Emotional Screening System (BASC-3 BESS). This is not a diagnostic tool, but it provides a quick and systematic way to assess whether a child’s behavior may or may not be normal for their age. An accurate diagnosis can only be made through clinical evaluation with a professional child therapist.
At this point, you might still be worried about your child’s behavior – maybe your child’s behavior has spoiled family events in the past or your child’s moods seem to be extreme for their age. The only way to know for sure is to get your child evaluated by a mental health professional who specializes in young children.
Considering a mental health evaluation for your child can be scary, but it doesn’t have to be. The therapists at Modern Parenting Solutions have many years of experience helping young children overcome lots of difficulties, and they can help your child too. Our Play Therapists specialize specifically in kids ages 3 to 11.
The silver lining for most childhood behavior problems is that they are VERY treatable – especially when caught at a young age. Play Therapy allows a young child between the ages of 3 to 11 to 1) process any difficult or traumatic events that may be contributing to their behavior, allowing them to move past these events in a healthy way; 2) learn coping skills to manage their intense emotions when they become triggered; 3) repair or improve the family and social relationships in their life so that they create a positive social network and to improve their self-esteem; and 4) live up to their full potential and stop their behavior problems from holding them back from the wonderful future that they deserve.
